FIVE MUST WATCH FEMALE CENTRIC BOLLYWOOD MOVIES
When you go
out for a movie what is mostly the reason behind, is it that you just want to hang out, or want to pass time, or is it for the popcorn and drinks? There are
several reasons for watching a movie and one of the biggest reasons why people
watch a movie is because it inspires us. There are movies based on true
incidents, there are movies that provide information and there are movies that teach us some sort
of values. Movies make us cry, make us laugh, and better, they make us
think. They encourage us to be positive and move forward, no matter what situation
we face.
With time our film industry has evolved so much, that now we see lots of female oriented movies. Even earlier, there were movies that didn’t demand a male actor as a “hero” because they had heroines which were sufficient enough to do it all by themselves, although these movies were relatively very less back then.
Here are 5ππ» of my personal favorite female oriented movies that’ll not only make you think
but will inspire you to break the boundaries, and take a stand for yourself.
1) BANDIT QUEEN
This is a
1994 Indian biographical movie based on the life of Phoolan Devi, as covered in
the book India’s Bandit Queen: THE TRUE STORY OF PHOOLAN DEVI. This is a must
watch movie. It’s one of the most raw and finest bollywood movie till date. The
movie shows the real life incidents of Phoolan Devi, her struggles, her
pain, the exploitation she went through, and the way she fought back. The movie brings out lots of questions in our minds about our society.
2) QUEEN
The movie
depicts how a young girl was shattered when her long time boyfriend and then fiancΓ© broke up with her just a day before their wedding, and how she decides to stand
up for herself. She goes to her honeymoon all alone to a foreign land and
returns as a changed person. It’s great to watch how Rani (the lead character)
finally takes control of her life and even rejects her boyfriend when he came
back to rebuild their relationship.
3) NEERJA
The movie is
based on the real life of Neerja Bhanot, the flight purser of Pan Am flight 73
in 1986, who was shot dead when the plane was hijacked by terrorists. She risked
her life to save the life of the passengers and crew on the plane. The movie
showed how this young beautiful woman who already faced abuse in her marriage, came
out of it and was living happily following her dreams, saved life of so many
people without fear. The movie is very inspiring and teaches us to leave our
fears back and always stand for what is right.
4) PINK
The movie
has the script that thrills and the acting that'll give you chills. The movie
is about how the society judge people especially females based on their
clothing, working hours, and the fact that they talk to boys, their drinking
habits and even which place they belong to. The movie teaches everyone that no
matter who you are you cannot do anything to anyone without their consent, a NO
means NO, no matter what. The movie also gives a message that one should not
be scared of taking legal actions against any sort of abuse.
5) LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA
The movie is
about four women and their four different stories linked by the battle within
them to achieve bliss. I have seen a lot of positive as well as negative
comments about this movie, some like it and some didn’t. The movie is based on the
female desires, their affections, and their way of breaking free from the social
norms. The movie does have some scenes that might have brought the criticism
but it’s all on you how you feel about it.
I hope you
